You can read my story on my website www.DocLewis.org which will help you understand why I am headed to the Special Olympics USA Games in 2018 & to the Special Olympics World Games 2019 in Abu Dhabi - I want to help these wonderful young people know that they can accomplish what they set out to do - no matter what the world tells them. I did it, and it's in my book "Let Me Tell You My Story" which is availabel on Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble
I was technically born "brain dead" and the doctors said that if I lived, I would be a vegetable and never be able to do anything on my own. But, my grandmother knew that God can see things that no doctor can see, and can help His children accomplish what they were sent to earth to do!
And so with many years of physical therapy, hospital stays, tutors, schooling and determination, I not only survived, but thrived and excelled in basketball, gospel singing and am currently a recognized radio personality in many markets across the United States. Not bad for a newborn who only weighed 8oz. at birth!
My goal is to serve as a volunteer with the athletes and help wherever they need me - including sharing my story as a way to motivate these amazing athletes.
There is much to do, and I am going "all in" but I need your financial help to make this dream become a reality. The costs are high and my goal is not small, but nothing worth doing is free - except sharing the love which the Lord gives to us all. That is my mission in Seattle in 2018 and in Abu Dhabi in 2019.
