Special Needs Day Program in Pickering

Hello Everyone,

Global Community Development Network is a very small group of caring people proud to be launching our new Day Program in Pickering for individuals with intellectual and physical challenges and their families.

We provide a 9 am-3 pm supported with at least 3 staff on the day program floor at times for a maximum of 16 participants.

Our fearless director Nina Dehghani, a former support service workers, who saw first hand during the COVID-19 pandemic, that the disabled demographic of the population was ignored and neglected knew that shouldn't have been happening and vowed to make a change.

After 3 long years Nina's passion project has grown into GCDN, and the day program. Christina Doucette is the Manager at day program, who also is physical challenged, which gives her insight on participants and programming. She has developed a weekly schedule which includes exercise, reading, writing skills, life skill, hot lunches which the participants make in the morning, baking days, outings, environmental studies, craft, and much more.

Now we need assistance from you to continue our unique programming. We still need to adapt the building with ramps at the back or the front.

Also, we'd like to finish are sensory room. We still need more lights in the room and would like to add claiming music.
