Save Our Post Office

Tax deductible
We need your help to save the oldest building in Grand Forks, the log cabin built in 1868 that served as our first Post Office in 1870. The log cabin is now owned and maintained by the Grand Forks County Historical Society, and it sits on the Historical Society’s grounds on Belmont. The cabin, now 153 years old, is in need of repairs and several logs that have sustained water and insect damage need to be replaced. Few qualified contractors have the skill required to do such restorations and they charge a great deal for their work.

The log cabin often serves as a backdrop for high school graduation pictures, prom photos, and wedding portraits. The cabin is also a popular attraction for tourists and school children who tour the museum grounds. Your donation will help to save this valuable historic building. Details about an upcoming public event featuring the log cabin will be announced soon.
