Sparty's Kitchen seeks $300k to fight hunger in East Lansing.
Sparty’s Kitchen is a private nonprofit mobile soup kitchen established to provide free dinners for Michigan State University students and low-income individuals, families, elderly, veterans and homeless citizens living in East Lansing, Michigan.
OUR GOAL:
To raise $300,000 to purchase and operate one food trucks to serve FREE dinners for poverty-stricken East Lansing residents and college students.
DINNER SERVICE:
Our mobile soup kitchens will operate from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. The food truck will be deployed throughout East Lansing, with a dedicated mobile meals vehicle stationed in or near the Michigan State University Campus.
When will the food trucks start operations?
Once we achieve our goal, it will take approximately 10 weeks to custom manufacture a food truck. We hope to begin serving free meals in 2018.
Will job opportunities be available to MSU students and the general public?
Yes. We will need full and part-time staff to prep, serve and maintain the food trucks. A minimum wage of $10 is proposed for all employees.
