Sparrow Bockner was born on October 17th, 2017 with a unilateral cleft lip and a full cleft palette on both the right and left sides in both his hard and soft palette.
Cleft lip and cleft palate are birth defects that occur when a baby's lip or mouth do not form properly. Together, these birth defects commonly are called “orofacial clefts. This birth defect occurs in 1 in 700 births.
Sparrow, who will be living on Cortes, has a full team of specialists in Victoria and and orthadontist who specializes in clefts in Courtenay and will have to be driven all about for years to come on a regular basis. He has to have at least 2 surgeries in the first year of his life.
Sparrow needs a car that is reliable and safe so we're asking for donations to buy him one for his medical related trips.
