Space Concordia Rocketry Division: Making History
For the last three years, these students at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada have been working tirelessly with one goal in mind: Space.
The Base 11 Space Challenge was started in 2018, calling out student teams from all over the US and Canada to bring their A game. The challenge was this: build a liquid fuel rocket capable of reaching the Karman Line; 100km straight up. The first team to reach space? Wins 1 Million USD.
Since we took on the challenge, we have broken engines, drill bits, and fuel pumps. We have designed tanks, parachutes, and plumbing. Our test stand, Trailer Tom, is the most sophisticated of it's kind in the country. And then, this summer, we blew the record for student rocket power fully out of the water. Our Hotfire tests have produced upwards of 35kN of thrust. Something only possible thanks to our amazing team, and every last person who has support us so far. Thank you!
But we have further to go: as it stands, we are still aiming to be launch-ready by December 2021.
If we pull off a launch, Space Concordia Rocketry Division will be the first student team in the world to sail among the stars. It's going to be tough, but with your help we think we can pull it off. While most of our systems are built, we are in the testing part of the project - which means things break, parts need replaced quickly; doing just one extra test can cost over 1000$.

When we first took up this challenge, we had no idea what was in store for us.
