Hurricane Harvey Relief

I am a Educator in Spring ISD (Hirsch Elementary) in Houston, Texas. Although my home and personal items had minimum to no damage as a result of the hurricane and flooding; a large amount co workers, teachers from various districts in Houston I know, and students in addition to their families, weren't nearly as fortunate. I am mourning for my city and for students and Educators who lost so much...who have a long way before complete recovery. This GoFundMe page is a small effort to gather the people in my community to not only pray and mourn for our city...but help it heal.
We are raising funds for Educators, students, and their families who have been victims of Hurricane Harvey in Houston, TX. Many families homes flooded, along with their cars, clothes, and other household items destroyed. Others are not able to work or get to work and are getting behind on providing for their families.
Although the hurricane itself has gone, the catastrophic damage to the peoples lives and livelihoods I hold dear remains. Educators who wear already struggling financially because of low pay. Students who have lost much and feel hopeless because they are not able to do much to help their families recover. Mothers and fathers of my students who are not able to get to work because of vehicles lost or their workplaces being flooded. Real, hardworking and honest people, in need of our help. Tons of children that I teach, without homes.
Hurricane Harvey has devastated so many lives in the Houston and surrounding area. It will take everyone, to give, volunteer, & donate our time, resources, energy and prayers to rebuild what was broken in this wonderful City. Please donate to the Educators, students, and families of Spring ISD as we work as a united city to help these families, our family to recover. No donation to too large or too small.
100% of the donations will go directly to people in need. Your donation will also be tax deductible. I have posted some of the families that you will be donating to stories and photos. I will update this list as I get permission to do so. Some of the names of the people involved might be changed for privacy purposes. If you have a person or family in need to add to the list of donation recipients, please email me ASAP.

Mellisa Eskins is my coworker, and veteran teacher who's house and property went about 6 feet under water. They still have water in their house, and have no idea what's next. Despite it all, they are hopeful and praying. This is the second time her property was flooded in the past two years.
My fathers house went under water as well. My dad and his wife had to leave their home to wait on a friend to pick them up. Unfortunately their friend couldn't make it to them. They stopped at the neighborhood convenience store, and their cousin was their. He brought them home with him, and they have been there ever since. There have been reports of robbing and looting in their neighborhood so they had to back through the water to protect their property. They just can't stay due to damages, and they have no flood insurance.
These funds will be used to buy items requested by family. Items will be purchased on Amazon and sent to their address.
