Who We Are:

Creative Arts Farm
Our Mission: Sowing Seeds of Wellness

Creative Arts Farm is a Los Angeles based front yard urban family farm, advocating sustainability & self-care education through urban farming & gardening, yoga, and live music offerings. Cultivating family and community wellness by taking care of yourself, while caring for the planet is the foundation of Creative Arts Farm offerings. We believe food, movement, and music are universal languages worldwide - essential to our emotional, physical, social, spiritual, and intellectual nourishment. Through our carefully curated community inspired offerings we aim to provide the Los Angeles area with the education, skills, and nourishment needed to thrive sustainably in an urban environment.

Our Team: Iowa Natives, California Cultivators

Siri Lorece - “I have spent my career as a Singer, Musician, and Educator - performing and teaching internationally in 7 countries as well as throughout 40 states. I found my way to wellness, gardening, and urban farming as a means of self-care after spending years touring and working for non-profits feeling completely depleted, anxious, and in need of nourishment. I decided in order to recalibrate and heal I needed to tend to my basic human needs by grounding and exchanging in wellness with the Earth. I am a 200hr Registered Yoga Teacher, Urban Farmer, Mom, Wife, Singer, and healer - honored to accept and walk within my purpose of engaging with communities through music, urban farming, and yoga as a path to familial and community healing. Coffee, crystals, and animal cuddles are my jam!”

Patrick - “I am a solar energy advocate and woodworker. I enjoy using local, salvaged, and repurposed materials to provide nature inspired builds for our sustainable woodshop - which supports our community gardening and wellness needs. Making music, tending to plants, and coming up with off the beaten path concepts keeps my energy flowing and allows me the freedom to fully embrace creativity and self-expression. ”.

Why We Need Your Help:

After 5 years of researching, learning, and planning, we launched the Creative Arts Farm initiative spring of 2020 and began offering our wellness publicly. We are grateful to our friends and community who have encouraged and supported our front yard mini-farm through donations, seeds, sustainable woodshop purchases, and joined us in virtual wellness through our Creative Arts Farm offerings. We are now ready to expand our urban family farm by cultivating a ½+ parcel of Momma Earth to better support our community needs, and we graciously need your help.

Currently in Los Angeles there are over 22,000 vacant lots of which could be used to grow community gardens, urban farms, homesteads, and sustainability education centers. Yet, due to astronomical price tags, lack of resources, and poor soil health, these lots sit abandoned while the surrounding neighborhoods are suffering from lack of access to quality housing, nourishment, wellness, and education.

We are committed to a lifestyle of minimalism and it is important to our family to reduce our environmental impact as much as possible. We live in a cozy 225 sq ft partially off-grid tiny house (powered by solar energy) and a part of our commitment to community and the Earth is occupying only as much physical space as we need while utilizing our learned skills and natural talents to help others achieve their holistic wellness, low waste, gardening, and self-sustainable goals. With family and community at the center of our mission of Sowing Seeds of Wellness, we believe the path to wellness begins with healing from the inside out by nourishing our bodies holistically through food, movement, and music - the Creative Arts Farm wellness trifecta!

By welcoming your donation towards our land purchase and start-up costs, we will be able to expand our urban family farm and homestead by growing more farm fresh produce and plant medicine to nourish surrounding neighborhoods, increase healing exchanges through yoga and music wellness, provide educational workshops on homesteading, gardening, and woodworking - while building a community of sustainable wellness advocates.

Land & Start-Up Costs

Below is a researched estimate of our farm start-up expenses, keeping our plan of partial off-grid capabilities and rescued/salvaged materials in consideration.

Approximate Land Cost: $50,000-$100,000 (Los Angeles Area)
Lot Size: ½ acre - 2 acres

Growing Practices:

We are currently growing vegetables, edible/medicinal flowers and herbs, seedlings, and rooted cuttings using organic and permaculture practices for our family and neighbors through the free Creative Arts Farmstand. Each plant we cultivate is grown with intention to honor the life of the plant to its fullest by utilizing as much of the plant as possible and by saving the seed for future harvests. We don’t use synthetic fertilizers or pesticides, and we add ample amounts of compost to our soil to improve soil fertility and overall plant health. As we secure our farmland we will continue applying and expanding our growing practices to restore and preserve the integrity of the land to encourage a diverse ecological soil system, which will provide harvests for generations to come.

Causes We Support: The Gentle Barn - Animal Sponsor

The Gentle Barn is a 6 acre animal welfare organization located nearby in Santa Clarita, CA with almost 200 rescued animals. As a plant powered family, we fully align with The Gentle Barn mission of “Teaching People Kindness and Compassion to Animals, Each Other and Our Planet”, which is why Creative Arts Farm supports The Gentle Barn as an Animal Sponsor for Karma the cow, an 18 year old bundle of pure love. Through the support of Animal Sponsors and other contributions, The Gentle Barn is able to provide continued care to rescued animals, educational resources, and family-friendly events to our community.
