Collective Herbal Apprenticeship

Who we are...

The Southern Herbalism & Intuitive Medicine Apprenticeship aims to build a community of healers committed to social justice and creating accessible, alternative medicine to the community. The curriculum is rooted in an anti-racist, feminist and queer-centric framework for students to move forward in their healing journeys with an inclusive, well-informed perspective to serve all communities with dignity and respect.

Above all, we will be diving full force into learning about plant medicine and the body through observation, materia medica, energetic analysis and studies in botany, physiology and anatomy.

The collective will meet for 6 hours every week and take biweekly educational field trips to regional ecological foraging sights and sanctuaries to learn about bioregional medicine and connect with the land.

Why we are unique...

The collective nature of this program is unique in that students will work together to solve clinical case studies, work through exam material, make medicine, go on adventures and eventually teach what they’ve learned back to the community to help them learn how to redistribute this priceless information in an accountable way.

This has and will continue to be a collective experience not only in terms of the healing and educational journey, but also in determining funding, content and structure. As a collective, participants have already come together to be involved in the entire planning process, deciding what is needed to pull this all together. As a result of this collaborative process and in an effort to offset the costs for those who are not able to pay the full tuition, participants have decided to fundraise for this portion of the tuition as a group, thus providing full and partial scholarship opportunities.

Where your support can take us...

To make this possible, we need to fundraise to help offset the costs of necessities like chairs, tables, herbs, utensils and other supplies for medicine making, field trips, literature and 120 hours of instructed class time!

How you can help...

Courses begin October of 2018 and our deadline for fundraising is October 2nd.

This is a pilot program for what we hope are many more sessions to come. We are aiming to work with graduates of the program to continue their educational journeys in healing, as well as their involvement in this collective community healing effort.

Your support is helping us get one step closer to making this possible for generations of students to come. We are aiming to fundraise enough to develop new staff opportunities to help this initiative grow.

Words cannot express the impact your contribution will have towards the development of this program for years to come.

** Note: If you donate $100 or more, we will send you a video recording of each class from the eleven week course! **
***To gain access to the recordings, please send an email to [email redacted] and we will give you instructions on how to download.

Where it all began...

Keslie Box received her certificate in Clinical Herbalism from the Wildflower School of Botanical Medicine and has studied herbal medicine, nutrition and energetic healing modalities for almost 10 years. Throughout her journey in healing work, Keslie has cultivated a practice in intuitive medicine, observing the areas where scientific knowledge and observation overlap with herbalism and intuitive healing.

After teaching foundational herbal courses for several years, realizing short class blocks were not an idea way to the heart of the material and left students wanting more.

Keslie is ecstatic for this opportunity to connect with a collective of individuals committed to learning the ins and outs of using plant medicine. Her dream is to be part of a collectively run clinic and educational center that provides accessible, sliding scale, plant based healthcare and education. This apprenticeship is such a natural next step and we are all looking forward to where it takes us!
