We are headed to the 2018 orienteering USA Junior National Championships and we need your help to become Junior Team Champions of the USA. The competition is being held April 28-29 at Mount Tom State Park near Holyoke MA. See: https://www.newenglandorienteering.org/2018-troll-cup-home
To pull this off our time is short and so are our fund so we are asking for your help. Your dontions will be used to help fund our travel, rooming, meals and competitions fees.
Two years ago we became an NNDCC. The Navy stopped funding JROTC at South Sumter because of the low number of cadets enrolled in the unit. We did not give up. The past two years we have worked our way to the top through blood, sweat and tears. We have trained vigorously and continue to train to be the best.
We have made history in being the only ever NNDCC unit to win the 2017 Florida state orienteeing championship and the Suncoast Florida orienteering championships consecutively. That said we are also the only NNDCC unit to be able to compete in a national competition. We recently placed 3rd in the Nation for Navy Nationals Orienteering Championships. We may have small numbers but we have big hearts, large dreams, and a lot of motivation.
The district has graciously helped fund us throughout these past two years but we are short of money. This year the goal is to make $6000 by April 28th only a fraction of the cost. Sadly we know only a small fraction of our 35 member team will be able to go to the nationals but the whole team will be there in spirit. With your help we can get our best to the Nationals.
