South Norfolk Radio Needs Your Support!

Donation protected

South Norfolk Radio (SNR), based in the centre of the traditional English market town of Wymondham, is the area's very own Community Radio Station. We were finally created in 2018, and initially named Radio Wymondham, around eight years after the idea had first been put forward in the town.

We are looking at ways to increase the services that we can offer to community groups and other organisations in the South Norfolk area and are currently exploring the possibility of providing a service to educators, encouraging children with language and social skills as they put together their own radio show. We're actively seeking grant funding that may be available to help us with this aim. We have recently been successful in obtaining a DAB Broadcasting licence from OFCOM, which would enable us to expand from being an online-only radio service to being able to broadcast to air in the local area, but there are significant additional costs involved in expanding the service in this way.

SNR is a community interest company run entirely by volunteers and is funded by volunteer membership fees and donations. We are actively encouraging sponsorships but receive a minimal amount of money from advertising, and we need more than we currently receive.

If you think you can help us in any way with funding, however small, please donate what you can. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated and will allow us to build a better service for our community.

It costs around £12,000 per year to run the station. This covers our license, music copyright fees, administrative and transmission costs. This does not include maintenance or purchase of equipment.

We are looking for new advertisers and sponsors, but times are very hard and attracting advertising is proving difficult. However your support could make a significant difference to our future service. All the money raised will be used to enable us to continue to broadcast and support local causes through publicising them on air and attending outside events through the year.

As a community radio station, we are proud to position ourselves at the heart of it, showcasing, publicising and championing local talent, artists, schools, charities, community groups and enterprises. We also enable local people, community groups, charitable, social and voluntary organisations to learn how to promote themselves through the medium of community radio.

As a non-profit making Community Interest Company, we have no shareholders. The radio station is run entirely by a group of enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers who wish to do something positive for the South Norfolk area, allowing people the opportunity to promote events, keep residents up to date with community information, and give local, national and international artists and bands the springboard they need through our many mainstream and specialist music programmes.

You'll find us online, on many radio streaming apps and on your Smart Speaker and you can listen to South Norfolk Radio online right now! Click here
