South Africa '18

I have started my second year at Azusa Pacific University and absolutely love it. God has definitely been working in and through me and my experiences here.

I want to share one of those experiences with you. Last year during homecoming chapel, the alumni of the year spoke about her transformative experience to Africa. She shared her story of how God called her and used her to serve globally. It spoke volumes to my heart, and immediately following I went to the library and began journaling all these feelings stirring up inside of me. By the time I left, it was decided: I was going to pursue this calling abroad. God was telling me to witness his work in the world, and I was obliging. 

So, I am thrilled to share with you that I have the amazing opportunity to study abroad in South Africa spring semester 2018! I leave in January and return in April. I will spend most of my time in the rural city of Pietermaritzburg, and some time in Cape Town. A huge part of my time there will be spent taking a Community Engagement class. In this class we will go to numerous service sites and build up underprivileged communities, do home visits, lead community groups, play with the children at preschools, and get to know the people we serve. I am so eager to see how God uses this experience to shape my heart, my faith, and my life.
