<div>Je m’appelle Mélisa Dionne-Michaud, je suis une amie de Josué et Meggie. Comme vous, j’ai à cœur de soutenir Josué et Meggie pour qu’ils puissent être ensemble jusqu’au bout et combattre ce maudit cancer en ayant le moins de soucis possible. C’est pourquoi je fais appel à vous aujourd’hui.

<div>Par cette campagne, nous souhaitons réunir toute l’aide possible pour Josué et Meggie, qui traversent la plus grande épreuve de leur vie. Voici un résumé de leur histoire :

<div>Tout a commencé plus tôt cette année, à Beauharnois (dans la grande région de Montréal). Josué a été voir un médecin parce qu’il sentait que quelque chose n’allait pas. On lui répond que pour obtenir un examen en radiologie, le temps d’attente est de six mois. Josué se dit que cela ne doit pas être si grave s’il doit attendre pendant des mois. Il en reste là.

<div>On est maintenant en octobre. Josué perd beaucoup de poids et son état de santé s’aggrave. Ils sont à Sept-Îles et Meggie le pousse à aller à l’urgence pour se faire examiner. Après de multiples examens, des diagnostics partiels et un peu d’espoir, le pire diagnostic tombe : il a une forme de cancer agressif, un adénocarcinome du système lymphatique avec métastases qui est à un stade avancé.

<div>Le premier diagnostic a été établi par un chirurgien de Sept-Îles. Quelques jours plus tard, Josué a été transféré d’urgence à Québec par transport aéromédical pour que des spécialistes examinent son cas de plus près. Meggie n’a pas fait ni une ni deux pour le rejoindre par avion, car elle habite à Sept-Îles.

<div>Une fois à Québec, Josué commence une chimiothérapie, mais il ne répond pas bien au traitement : les métastases ont gagné du terrain et attaqué son foie et ses reins fonctionnent à faible régime. À l’heure actuelle, on ne sait pas s’il pourra subir une autre chimiothérapie susceptible de ralentir la progression de la maladie. Le séjour à l’hôpital s’étire, les jours passent et la situation évolue à peine.

<div>Et c’est ici qu’on a besoin de vous.

<div>Comme vous vous en doutez sûrement, les allers-retours Québec-Sept-Îles, les dépenses liées à l’essence, aux billets d’avion, aux repas, sans compter la perte de salaire de Meggie sont un fardeau financier auquel il faut remédier. De fait, elle a dû prendre un congé sans solde d’une durée indéterminée pour être auprès de son amour, pour le soutenir dans la maladie et l’encourager dans les moments très difficiles. Il faut également mentionner qu’elle a un jeune garçon de 8 ans qui a aussi besoin de voir sa mère de temps en temps.

<div>On peut affirmer avec certitude que son bas de laine a été réduit comme une peau de chagrin. Meggie est toujours la première à organiser ce type de campagne de soutien pour ses amis en difficulté, donc oser demander de l’aide à son tour n’a pas été une décision facile.

<div>Encore une fois, la présente campagne vise à lui permettre d’être avec Josué en tout temps et à alléger le poids d’un fardeau financier inévitable dans cette situation.

<div>My name is Mélisa Dionne-Michaud, I am a friend of Josué and Meggie. Like you, I want to support Josué and Meggie so they can be together to fight this cursed cancer with as little trouble as possible. This is why I am calling on you today.

<div>Through this campaign, we want to raise all the help we can for Josué and Meggie, who are going through the biggest ordeal of their lives. Here is a summary of their story:
</div>

</div>
<div>It all started earlier this year in Beauharnois (in the greater Montreal area). Josué went to see a doctor because he felt something was wrong. He was told that the wait time for a radiology exam was six months. Josué thought that it couldn't be that bad if he had to wait for months. He leaves it at that.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It is now October. Josué is losing a lot of weight and his health is getting worse. Now both in Sept-Îles, Meggie pushed him to go to the emergency room to get checked out. After multiple tests, partial diagnoses and some false hope, the worst diagnosis came: he had an aggressive form of cancer, an adenocarcinoma of the lymphatic system with metastases, at an advanced stage.

<div>The first diagnosis was made by a surgeon in Sept-Îles. A few days later, Josué was rushed to Québec City by airlift to be examined more closely by specialists. As she’s living in Sept-Îles, Meggie had to fly to Québec City in a rush as well.
</div>

</div>
<div>Once in Québec City, Josué began chemotherapy, but he did not respond well to the treatment: the metastases had spread and attacked his liver and on the top of it, his kidneys were functioning poorly. At this time, it is not known if he will be able to undergo further chemotherapy to slow the progression of the disease. The hospital stay is dragging on, the days are passing and the situation is barely changing.

<div>And this is where we need your help.

<div>As you can probably imagine, Meggie's travels back and forth from Quebec City and Sept-Îles, the expenses related to gas, plane tickets, meals, not to mention her lost salary, are a financial burden that must be addressed. In fact, she had to take an indefinite leave of absence from work to be with her love, to support him through his illness and to encourage him during very difficult times. It should also be mentioned that she has an 8 year old son who also needs to see his mother from time to time.

<div>It is safe to say that she has run through all the savings she had. Meggie is always the first to organize this type of support campaign for her friends in need, but asking for help on her part was not an easy decision.

<div>Once again, this campaign is designed to allow her to be with Josué at all times and to ease the financial burden that is inevitable in this situation.
