<div>Ma conjointe Caroline était une femme en parfaite santé, sportive, passionnée et portée par de nombreux projets. Rien ne laissait imaginer qu’à seulement 47 ans, elle se verrait annoncer un diagnostic aussi violent : un cancer de l’ovaire séreux de haut grade, stade 4C — une forme particulièrement agressive, et aujourd’hui considérée comme incurable.

<div>Du jour au lendemain, Caroline est passée d’une personne qui ne prenait presque jamais de médicaments à quelqu’un qui devait recevoir de l’hydromorphone aux 4 heures pour tolérer la douleur. Elle a subi d’importants drainages pleuraux (plus de 15 litres retirés), a perdu 20 à 25 livres, et son corps s’est profondément affaibli.

<div>Grâce à une réponse exceptionnelle à la chimiothérapie carboplatine–taxol, Caroline a pu être opérée en février 2025. L’intervention a révélé très peu de traces de cancer, et une hystérectomie complète a été réalisée. Les analyses ont toutefois confirmé une mutation génétique BRCA-2, l’exposant aussi à un risque élevé récidive et de cancer du sein. Une double mastectomie préventive est prévu.

<div>Malgré tout, une récidive chimique récente est apparue et elle devra refaire de la chimio thérapie.

<div>Les médecins sont clairs : même si la chimiothérapie fonctionne bien, les récidives demeurent fort probables. Et les traitements conventionnels, bien qu’efficaces, la laissent affaibli — physiquement, mentalement et émotionnellement. Anxiété, crises de panique, perte de concentration, épuisement…

<div>Aujourd’hui, Caroline se tourne vers une approche révolutionnaire en médecine : la thérapie génique, une technologie qui redonne espoir là où les traitements traditionnels atteignent leurs limites. Ce traitement spécialisé, offert à Monterrey, au Mexique, représente une chance concrète de guérison, mais son coût s’élève à 120 000 $ US, sans compter le transport, l’hébergement, etc.

<div>In September 2024, our lives were turned upside down.


</div>

<div>My partner, Caroline, was a woman in perfect health—active, passionate, and full of plans for the future. Nothing could have suggested that at only 47 years old, she would be faced with such a devastating diagnosis: high-grade serous ovarian cancer, stage 4C — a particularly aggressive form, now considered incurable.

<div>Overnight, Caroline went from someone who rarely took medication to someone who needed hydromorphone every four hours just to manage the pain. She underwent major pleural drainages (more than 15 liters removed), lost 20 to 25 pounds, and her body became profoundly weakened.

<div>Thanks to an exceptional response to carboplatin–taxol chemotherapy, Caroline was able to undergo surgery in February 2025. The procedure revealed very little remaining cancer, and a complete hysterectomy was performed. However, testing confirmed a BRCA-2 genetic mutation, placing her at high risk of recurrence and breast cancer.

<div>A preventive double mastectomy is planned.


</div>


<div>Despite everything, a recent biochemical recurrence has appeared, and she will need to undergo chemotherapy again.


</div>


<div>The doctors are clear: even if chemotherapy works well, recurrences remain very likely. And while conventional treatments are effective, they leave her weakened — physically, mentally, and emotionally. Anxiety, panic attacks, loss of concentration, exhaustion…

<div>Yet she continues to fight with incredible strength.
