Support Meri to study at Sorbonne University

Donation protected

Most of you know me as an artist and yet many of you recognize me as someone who is extremely passionate about French culture and language. Finally, I am excited to share with you the great news that I got admitted to the university of my dreams, Sorbonne, to study Fine Arts in Paris. Making art, discovering Paris, and improving french language skills is something I could only dream about.

After putting together my savings and the money my family lent me, I'm asking for Your help in raising the remaining funds needed for me to attend the program. I plan on using the money for housing and cost-of-living expenses as well as the cost of art materials. This study abroad experience is the first step in my endeavor to become a more global citizen and to learn about my future work in the real world.

About Me:

I am Meri Karapetyan, a painter whose art spans many disciplines and areas. My passion for painting began as a student at the College of Architecture and continued throughout my youth at the State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia. The following years were rich in experience of constant development of art practices, as I traveled worldwide and participated in several international projects, earning awards and nominations, including my recent award from Francophonie for the video art “Dis-moi dix mots qui (ne) manquent pas d'air.”

My latest project was conducted in Cité International Des Arts . Having a chance to experience intercultural communication with artists of different backgrounds and cultures, I was reimagining new meanings and perceptions of art for myself, while her artistic practice was reshaping and being redefined throughout the process.

Now, I am doing my master's degree at the Academy of Fine Arts in Armenia. I am also participating in an exhibition with several young artists in the Latitude Art Space. I embrace the freedom of experimenting with different artistic practices, always trying new mediums, tools, and environments to create. I have been involved in different types of projects, from street art to calligraphy. I continue my non-formal education in Artlab Yerevan, a contemporary arts education center in Yerevan, as well as TUMO Center for Creative Technologies. Along with my studies, I have done numerous volunteering activities in different NGOs, such as DNA, APY, and the Embassy of France in Armenia, and etc.

We all know that it was never easy for an artist to earn their way through, especially during the repeated outbreaks of pandemics and the post-war situation. As a master’s art student, and an exhibited artist in Latitude gallery, I simultaneously work as a waiter to save for my education. With all of these hardships along the way, I didn’t lose hope and tried to transform the collective concern into an opportunity to continue creating and experimenting.

Today, I earned my chance to conquer new horizons in art.

I wouldn't be where I am today without the love, support, and encouragement I've had from so many of you.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated to help me achieve my dreams, learn a ton, and build my future as a contemporary artist.

Despite everything, I want to sincerely thank everyone who will donate, share, and even read this till the end.

Thank you!
