Showtime for Soundpapered

Donation protected
Dear friends, sponsors,

With your support, Soundpapered, my ongoing live drawing project, had its first solo show in New York back in January. Hosted by Okayspace, the venue run by online music community, Okayplayer.com, this project depended on your contributions large and small!

Okayspace's invitation represented an exciting opportunity to showcase the Soundpapered work - limited edition prints, animation - in the month New York Winter Jazz Festival takes place.

THE FILM
With filmmaker, Nick Hornig, and composer/pianist, Kwami Coleman, Soundpapered made a short film (shown here) to capture the opening night party. Whether you were there or if you missed it - take a look!

YOUR GENEROSITY
Producing the work called for financial support from others like you, friends + fans of the project and appropriate sponsors:

You funded and made in-kind contributions to cover studio access, materials, kit rental and marketing costs, with personal contributions instead of corporate sponsorship/partnerships.

You invested in creative output to make it happen, and to endorse the thousands of hours I've  already invested filling my sketchbooks at gigs all over the place.

1000 EYES ON SOUNDPAPERED
I've shared this work, and its story, to friends and fans on social media and aim to reach a wider audience here in New York too.

ON TARGET
I received over $3500 during the pre-launch. Your support, in *cash* here, was both gratefully received and put to work in ways that you can enjoy very soon.

This project is still accepting donations small, medium, large, extra-large, you define what that means based on your own threshold. Print sales also help support the project. See http://soundpapered.com/prints for more details.

ABOUT SOUNDPAPERED
I've been drawing live from 9pm-5am for several years now, and have sketched over a hundred performers in New York and beyond.

The Soundpapered sketchbooks are filled with drawings of today's most incredible musicians, jazz legends and hip hop's rising stars.

Every sketch is completed live during a set, at gigs in New York, LA, London, North Carolina and elsewhere. Produced in ink and in real-time, off the page and online, the drawings have become a mini map of modern music after dark.

TINY BUT MIGHTY
Since Soundpapered began, it has featured in a film at the Village Vanguard, in an animation for Blue Note Records/Revive Music, in a group show during the Art of Cool festival, reached Grammy winners and Hollywood A-listers, and even been reviewed in person by Quincy Jones.

MANY THANKS!
Enjoy the film from the opening night!

Warm wishes,

Rachel
