Song of the Lark European Coverage!

Donation protected
Hey y'all, it's Emily from Song of the Lark here, and I'm KINDA BEYOND EXCITED to share huge news with everyone:

I'm following the Minnesota Orchestra on its 2016 European tour, going to its shows in Lahti, Amsterdam, and Copenhagen!

*Scream of Unsuccessfully Suppressed Excitement*

I'll be traveling from August 18 to August 30, taking the same flights as the orchestra and staying in the same hotels, to guarantee an up-close-and-personal perspective.

My itinerary includes:

~ MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, USA with a tour sendoff show at Orchestra Hall that is already completely sold out
~ KEFLAVIK AIRPORT IN REYKJAVIK, ICELAND, where I will spend a whole sixty minute layover valiantly fighting jet lag
~ HELSINKI, FINLAND, where I'll try and fail to sound out a few Finnish words phonetically
~ LAHTI, FINLAND, where Minnesota Orchestra music director Osmo Vänskä made a name for himself
~ AINOLA, where Jean Sibelius lived and wrote
~ NOT EDINBURGH, because the Orchestra is there for less than 24 hours and it would have cost a lot of money and energy for me to go, so you'll just have to deal with more Amsterdam coverage
~ AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS, where I'll tour the Concertgebouw, one of the most storied concert halls in the world; learn about Frieda Belinfante, the Nazi-fighting cellist badass who was also the first woman to be an artistic director of an orchestra in Europe; and visit some surprise bonus attractions that will be just as surprising to you as to me because I haven't officially decided on them yet
~ COPENHAGEN, DENMARK, where I'll keep valiantly battling jetlag while catching the Minnesota Orchestra European tour finale show,
then, on the way home,
~ REYKJAVIK PROPER, which I'm checking out for because Iceland's beauty is OTHERWORLDLY and, depending on the outcome of the presidential election, I may be in the market for a new homeland

Every step of the way, I intend to bring the European tour experience to my readers using words, pictures, videos, and social media.

I know how many people want to go on this tour to celebrate the resurrection of their orchestra, but can't. So I want to bring all the excitement to you as a way of saying thank-you for all you've done for this magnificent ensemble.

If you want to help, toss a few bills in the hat and accept my SINCEREST thanks!

All money raised will pay hotel, airfare, ticket, and GoFundMe costs; on the off chance there is any extra money raised, it will go to improving the blog or covering coverage-related incidentals. :)

Guys, I'm so excited and thrilled and honored to be doing this. I really, really, REALLY hope you enjoy, and I'll catch you on the road!

Lots of love,
Emily
