SOS Ukraine aid distribution
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Henry McEntee. I have just spent over 2 two weeks volunteering in the town of Przemysl on the Poland/Ukraine border. For my first week there, I volunteered with SOS Ukraine, a volunteer-run logistics and transport operation that receives loads of aid and supplies from all over Europe. Trucks are unloaded, sorted and then reloaded onto Ukrainian registered trucks, buses and vans to be brought to civilians trying to survive in areas completely cut off by the war and military personnel on the frontlines. They do incredible work and since the start of the war, have got over 200 trucks and 100 buses fully loaded into Ukraine. These trucks carry everything from clothes, medical supplies, military equipment, animal feed, phone chargers, blankets, and baby food. It is an incredible operation but their overheads are massive and unfortunately ongoing because of the situation in Ukraine. They also rely entirely on volunteers to carry out this work. They have to pay rent on warehouses they operate from, as well as covering fuel costs of vehicles travelling into Ukraine and other costs associated with crossing the border. My previous fundraiser was a massive success and thank you to everyone who contributed. As I say though, the situation over there shows no signs of improvement and organisations like these will be needed at least for the forseeable future. Thank you in advance for any contribution big or small. They really appreciate Ireland's support
