This campaign is organized by REACH, Liberia to benefit Georgia Koon. REACH is a humanitarian organization, which rescues abused and abandoned children and provide financial assistance, with the support of our partners, to children in hardship. This is REACH’s first GoFundMe campaign, created to raise funds for Georgia’s medical care, due to her critical condition, urgent need and high cost of her medical treatment.
Georgia Koon’s story is heartbreaking. She is a young girl who is fighting for her life, due to chronic kidney disease. REACH encountered Georgia, little over a week ago, when her mother took her to our feeding station, in desperate need of help. When we saw Georgia’s condition, we knew that we must do something to save her life. Georgia’s request was that she just wants to be well, so that she can go to school again. That simple plea broke our hearts. As you can see from her photo, Georgia was a beautiful and vibrant teen, before being stricken by kidney disease. She is fourteen years old and from a poor family, which cannot afford the life-saving treatment that she desperately needs. She has complications due to her illness. The devastating effects of the disease are obvious from the swelling of her face, arms, legs and abdomen. In Liberia, there are no dialysis clinics and she has been advised to seek medical care abroad. If she remains in Liberia, her prognosis is grim. We do not have the needed funds to assist the family and are racing against time.
REACH is humbly asking for donations to cover the costs of travel, lodging and treatment. No amount is too small. Every penny counts and will be appreciated. We depend on the kindness of our partners and compassionate friends like you to make our mission possible. This is a priority case for us. Every life is valuable and the loss of one diminishes us all.
