#SorryIsNotEnough

#SorryIsNotEnough

The IBO is committed to supporting the Irish black community.

We strongly believe Black woman are the heart and soul of our community, and it is our duty to support and assist the growth , wellbeing and development of our Queens.

#SorryIsNotEnough is a campaign dedicated to assisting black women who have been victims of sexual violence to get access to services that can be of aid to their recovery.

Without professional support such as therapy, family support and safe platforms(support groups) to express their response to abuse, the effects of sexual abuse are often long lasting and scaring for the victims. When no helpful interventions are offered to victims, many difficulties often manifest over the course of their lives. If no essential recovery support is offered, survivors are highly likely to experience post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

My name is Shekinah Baba-Lola.
I am a Director at the IBO(Irish Black Owned).

Raised Irish, more specifically a Black Irish woman, I more than relate with the experiences of my fellow victimised Black Irish Sisters and as such have found it dearly necessary to organise this campaign as a step towards healing and recovery for the afflicted.

The funds from the campaign will be designated to an IBO Director (Shekinah Baba-Lola).
Director Shekinah will distribute the funds to namely 2 organisations, My Sister's Keeper & Recrowned Ireland.
Both Organisations host events specifically created as safe platforms for Qualified speakers and health care professionals to interact with the Women in need of the services.
In addition we have partnered with DCU(Dublin City University) to use their facilities to run a 5 week anxiety and trauma program by Dr Esther Onolememen.

Funds will also be allocated to pay for both online and face-to-face therapy sessions.
