Sophie's South Africa Research Expedition

Hi everyone! :)

**My 10km walk a day in December**

I am currently in my third year at the University of Aberdeen, studying Zoology, as I have a passion for animals and conservation.

I have been offered the wonderful opportunity to travel to South Africa for four weeks with Operation Wallacea and assist researchers in assessing the success of conservation efforts at Dinokeng Game Reserve. The main aim of this project is to help conservation managers with large-scale issues, such as the extent of human-wildlife conflict at the reserve and how this is detrimentally harming already endangered species. The primary focus will be on 'The Big 5', which includes lions, leopards, Black rhinoceros, African bush elephants and African buffalo.

However, this is very costly, and I will need to rely on the support from friends, family, etc, to help donate to this expedition, so hoping all you wonderful people can help me out!

The expedition fees include my accommodation, food, equipment, lectures and professional assistance.

So ... my first challenge is to walk 10km daily throughout December, as it's approximately 10000km from Scotland to South Africa. This will be especially challenging for me over December, as I do like a night out!!
