Fighting Sophie's Fight (Medical Therapy Donation)

Sophia is a very special young lady who needs help. Ordinarily she would be helping mommy and daddy at weekend markets selling her handmade soaps for her little business, Texas Made Soap. But she has recently undergone a medical setback that has left the doctors, mommy, daddy and everyone concerned and confused. She has been having sensory overloads, followed by outbursts of frustration and anxiety and attacking mommy (which could be caused by pain- pain the doctors have not been able to find the cause of yet). It took both brother and dad to get her into the hospital, as she is so stressed that she will fight against anyone trying to help, and she is extremely strong. Unfortunately, because the tests so far haven't shown the cause of the pain or exact problem, dad has had to take off work to help restrain her. If dad isn't here, the police are asked to restrain her and of course this scares her and us. The hospital has placed a guard at the door to ensure everyone is safe because although she would never intend to hurt anyone, her pain and frustration can come out as further outbursts. She is out of the hospital and we now have to start all over, finding new behavioral therapy and treatment. Appointments and drives are extremely hard for mom to do alone so everything will have to be with assistance. They are looking into a couple of treatments. ABA therapy, but it is not covered by Medicad or to find the right doctor to regulate her medication. But our first choice is non medicated options. Medication has so many hard side effects and often makes things worse. We are searching for assistance for teens with special needs. We are in a crisis right now, this was very unexpected. Our job is to protect her, to be her voice and her advocate. We will fight her fight. We will not stop until we give her the help she needs. Group homes and inpatient treatment is not an option for us. We as a family stand strong and protect one another no matter what we go through this is what family does. From the heart of a mom and dad trying to survive. If you can donate anything, please do consider it. We would be very thankful.
