Sophie Vernon Rwanda Trip

Donation protected
Known to her high school hockey teammates as ‘mom’, Sophie Vernon is a remarkably responsible and conscientious young woman whose summer plan involved earning as much money for college as possible. In the wake of her step-father’s death, Sophie, an international studies major at the University of Denver, has decided to change her summer plans to get closer to her core mission to work on global health, environmental and health policy, and to travel to Africa to understand reality of life far from home. She is now planning to intern with an architecture and design firm who works closely with Partners in Health and other NGOs. She will start work in Boston, and prepare for a month in Rwanda.. At the Kigali office, Sophie will be working on research, design and construction of a wide range of projects including an outpatient cancer treatment center, a new university dedicated to sustainable agriculture techniques and a wide range of projects. The Rwanda trip is self-funded.  We are hoping to support Sophie in this transformative moment in her life by helping to fund her trip to Rwanda. Your support will allow her to take all of her passion, creativity and work ethic to harness her passion and creativity in meaningful work and an experience that will no doubt be a life changer.
