Sophie Daniel's Medical Fund

Sophie Daniel has spent her life helping other people selflessly.

Now it is our turn to help Sophie as she is in urgent need.

In November 2017, Sophie Daniel underwent a 'routine' open brain surgery. Sadly there were complications and the procedure lasted ten hours,  rendering Sophie comatose for a day and a half following the operation.

Now on the road to recovery, Sophie has been an inpatient for eight weeks. Firstly in hospital, followed by a residential stay in a rehabilitation centre for the past six weeks. She has a long road ahead as she re-learns how to walk and recovers the full brain function she had prior to surgery. With multiple sessions of physical and occupational therapy daily, she is showing slow but encouraging recovery. Thankfully, her quick wit made it through the surgery unscathed.

There is an estimated one more week in the rehabilitation centre, and an additional four to six months recovery forecast. Sophie has been working very hard on her recuperation. Her motivation and commitment to regaining her full independence are amazing. But she can't do it alone.

Sophie is unable to work due to impaired mobility function and the months of recovery time necessary to regain full functionality.

Her health insurance covered the majority of the cost of surgery and rehabilitation, but there is still a shortfall that needs to be covered in these bills.

Additionally, Sophie's student visa that will allow her to remain in Australia and continue treatment expires and must be renewed before 22 February, 2018.

Tuition of $4,500 for the Chaplaincy course at Alphacrucis College that she hoped to commence in February, which is the key to her student visa, is also due.

How can you help?

Many hands make light work. With a donation from each person reading this, we can reach the immediate goal of AUD$7,500 quickly.  If 150 people each give $50 we could gift Sophie these vital funds in full.

Please consider giving generously. The longer term financial forecast for Sophie is in the range of $12,000 - $15,000, and any donations will be gratefully recieved.

Anyone who knows Sophie, knows she would never ask for help herself. But now, in her time of great need, we can each show Sophie just what an important and loved person she is.

God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. Hebrews 6:10
