Sophia’s Missionary Year

Donation protected
Hello everyone! Next fall I will be joining a youth ministry as a missionary!
I am seventeen and am the second of four kids. I’ve been homeschooled all of my life. My family was Baptist, until we converted to Catholicism in 2014. I can say that without a doubt becoming Catholic has been the biggest blessing I have ever received. I have grown in my faith so much since; I have a wonderful community of Catholic friends and have had the opportunity to go to many amazing events such as the March for Life, Hard As Nails Ministry(HANM) events at local parishes, and retreats with the brothers and sisters of St. John in Princeville, IL. Over the past few years I have thought about the possibility of becoming a missionary with HANM after going to a few of their events. I began seriously discerning if that was God’s will for me around Easter 2017, I applied that October, and was accepted in November!
Hard as Nails is a team of evangelists on a mission to awaken the world, in particular, youth, to the power of God’s love. The three evangelical virtues that they focus on are courage, authenticity, and obedience. On their website they state, “We believe that everyone should know that they are AMAZING, not for what they have done, but for who they are in the eyes of God...We are determined to help the whole world know the power of God’s love by sharing their story, sympathizing with others, seeking help, and stepping outside their comfort zone.” One thing that stood out to me about HANM was their focus on authenticity and that they shared their stories. Doing that with a close group of my friends really helped me get through some of my struggles. The HANM team gives hope and shares God’s love through school and church events across the country. Missionaries also stay at their base in Syracuse, NY and work with the community there. To learn more about Hard As Nails Ministry click this link: http://hanm.org/.
I will be leaving for Hard As Nails in August 2018 and would love your prayers and support as I prepare and while I’m a missionary!
Each missionary is responsible to raise up to $10,000 to support themselves in their year of volunteer mission work. This includes the cost of travel, meals, and other living accommodations.
Please consider supporting me by donating. Every dollar counts and no amount is too small! If you’re unable to donate, please share this link on Facebook and spread the word!
Thank you for your consideration, support, and prayers! I will update you as I continue this journey. God bless!
