Sooke Firefighters for the Christmas Bureau
The Sooke Firefighter Association and IAFF Local 4841 are partnering together for the 28th year in a fundraising campaign. This effort supports over 400 local families in filling cupboards and putting a holiday turkey on the table annually. With the unique challenges that we’ve all endured these past 2 years, the need for some is greater than ever. By your generous donation, you are helping local families feel the warmth of holiday cheer and create special memories.
In past years…
The approach has been a 2-prong approach: The Fill a Fire Truck campaign – ongoing collection by volunteer members in the community and The Santa Run – a one-night food drive where Sooke Firefighters collect food donations from the community. Fire trucks decorated with holiday lights, playing festive music, and transporting Santa Claus have covered all neighbourhoods in Sooke, raising over $800 000 in groceries over 28 years!!
What’s Exciting this year…
The Fill a Fire Truck campaign will be running at various locations around the community as usual (Please no food donations).
The Santa Run is still on this year, and we will be collecting monetary donations instead of food. The Christmas Bureau will be able to match the value of each donation through their purchasing power thanks to Village Foods and Western Foods, stretching each donation the way only holiday magic can!!! Check here for route information and watch for the Sooke Firefighters in your neighbourhood on December 11 after dusk.
We are also adding an online Donation option this year so you can participate from the comfort and safety of your own home.
The Sooke Christmas Bureau…
Sooke Christmas Bureau’s mandate is to provide generous food hampers for those individuals and families who need some help over the Christmas season. Thanks to the overwhelming support from the community of Sooke through the efforts and organization of the Sooke Firefighters, it is estimated over $800,000 in food and cash donations have been contributed through the campaign to support over 7, 300 families throughout the 28 year history.
