Marie & Sonya's Recovery Surprise
These two lovely birds are Marie and Sonya. Two very dear friends of ours who have hearts of gold that are always the first in line to help when someone is in need. Whether you need help with a recipe (Marie), handy work around the house (Sonya), or just a hug... there they are.
On the night of October 1st, a group of our dearest friends, along with Marie and Sonya, were at the Route 91 Harvest Country Music Festival in Las Vegas where the deadliest shooting in the us took place. While none of them were injured from the gunshots (luckily), the toll on their emotions and a previous knee injury have reared their ugly head. Marie, being the breadwinner of the family, hasn't been able to return to work full time and her wife, Sonya, is in jeopardy of having to withdraw from her Masters program at UCSD to return to work. Rather than let their bills pile up, her friends are taking action to pay the two of them back for the numerous times they have helped others. Without their permission, we are creating this fundraiser to surprise them with financial help to ease some of the pressures of their daily life. We want them to focus on what is truly important, which is recovering from this horrific event.
Any donation that you can spare, even that $1 you found in your coat from last winter, would help show Marie and Sonya that they are surrounded by friends who love them deeply.

To give you a little back story as to why I am doing this and who I am. My name is Matt Voges, I worked with Marie at the Corvette Diner back in 1996. Since then, she forced me out of the closet (said with love and laughter) and we became long time dear friends. Veronica and I came up with this idea of doing this to help out Marie and Sonya, as mentioned above.
The funds raised through this campaign will be donated to Marie and Sonya. 100% of what we earn, less the fees taken by GoFundMe will be given to them in a lump sum payment, either directly or via me. This is my promise to you (in writing).
