What would you do if you found out your home was reduced to ashes. Everything from your life has been destroyed, and it only took several hours to happen.
Hello, my name is Philip Guelfi. As you recall on October 9th of 2017 Santa Rosa California underwent a firestorm which destroyed over 4,680 homes in the city alone. I am creating this GoFundMe account to help a dear friend of mine begin to rebuild his life. His name is John Ridge, and he lived in the Journeys End Mobile Home Park. This mobile home park was almost completely destroyed, with not much left but steel and ash. Not only did he lose his mobile home, he also lost his work truck along with all the tools for his trade.
I am appealing to all my family and friends to help John in any way possible. I have known John for over 15 years. I’ve always known him to be a man who has given of himself, in both spirit and physical hands-on work. Let me tell you a little bit more about John.
John is a caring, loving, Christian man. He has been a part of Redwood Empire Cursillo in Sonoma County since 1986 . He attends Resurrection parish, and gives of his time and talent to his church as well as volunteering for any charitable project he can. John has been an electrician by trade for over 30 years.
Now as the loss of his home, and being displaced, is not already a very devastating situation, a few years ago John had been diagnosed with esophageal cancer. The cancer has currently metastasized to the lymph nodes in his neck. He has undergone chemotherapy and currently is receiving radiation treatment of the lymph nodes. Because of his illness, John has been struggling financially for a number of years, and as a result could not afford homeowner or personal property insurance on his residence. This unfortunately has left him with an unsurmountable task of rebuilding his life.
I am creating this GoFundMe account to help John get back on his feet. The near term use of proceeds will be used to help:
*Pay medical premiums and bills,
*Provide fuel to get to and from the appointments
*Help pay for auto Insurance
*Purchase work clothing
* To acquire some essentials for the small studio in which he is sharing space in.
For the long-term John would like to:
*Move into a larger apartment
* Or purchase another mobile home.
John is not looking to live off the charity of others, he is simply looking for a hand up to allow him to return to some level of work, where he can begin to provide for himself.
If you are unable to help financially, we understand, but I would ask that you keep John in your prayers for the recovery of his health, and his life as he knew it.
