Son and Karli's New Adventure

Donation protected
Instead of wedding gifts, we are raising money for our first three months of married life and our honeymoon. As full-time, volunteer missionaries living on support, we hope our friends and family will consider supporting us this way.

Our crazy story of how we met….
I was just starting a new adventure far from home. I was a nurse in a small-town clinic in Mexico. In March of 2017 our clinic had an outreach in Tijuana, where Son was our translator for the day. This is how we first met. A few weeks later we started dating. We quickly discovered that we both love serving the people of Mexico.

Our hearts for Mexico….
I began volunteering as a missionary nurse in January 2017 with a ministry called Siloé, which provides free medical care in a small community named La Misión. This year of ministry has been one of the best in my life.

Although I met Son in Mexico, he is from Haiti and is currently a leader at the YWAM (Youth With A Mission) base in Tijuana, Mexico. He has worked hard in full-time ministry for 4 years. Before being called to Mexico, Son served with YWAM in Haiti, Dominican Republic, Israel, and Uganda.

The Surprise Proposal:
In December, Son asked me to marry him at sunset on the cliffs of La Joya, Mexico (my mom was TOTALLY in on this surprise). We are getting married in San Diego in April of this year. We are so excited to begin  ministry together as a married couple.

Sons first Vacation (Our Honeymoon)….
We will be traveling to Panama for our honeymoon and Son’s very first vacation! This is one of the few places Son is able to travel without needing to apply for a visa. After Panama we will travel to Haiti to spend time with Son’s sisters, and also to give me a chance to see where he grew up as a child.

Starting our lives together….
After our honeymoon Son will continue with the YWAM ministry in the same role. He will primarily be a part of the house-building ministry. I will volunteer at the YWAM base a few days a week, continue to use my medical skills wherever needed, and also spend time working with a children’s ministry.

Our transition into married life will increase our monthly expenses. We hope to move into an apartment in Rosarito, Mexico, when we return. We are hoping to raise enough funds to help us in our first three months as a missionary couple.

***Instead of buying us a wedding gift we hope that you will consider giving a one-time financial gift. We are hoping to raise enough funds to help us (1) get started in our first three months of marriage, and (2) offset the cost of our honeymoon travel. Please keep us in your prayers as we take our first steps towards becoming husband and wife. Thank you for your support!***

We need additional monthly support to continue volunteering as missionaries here in Mexico. If that is something you would like to know more about you can contact me at   [email redacted]
