Somnium Short Film Funding

I'm Michael Cherniak, I'm an Emmy-Award Nominated Producer. I've worked in film for the past 4 years on projects like A Quiet Place Part 2, The Binge, and The Night House. I've been lucky to work with some amazing writers, directors, and producers, but now it's my turn.

I'm going to make my first film.

This project will be my first time in the helm producing and writing something of this magnitude. I hope you will help me. Trying to hit as many milestones as possible. Check out the synopsis for the sci-fi thriller "Somnium"

Synopsis: "Adam downloads the newest app that allows you to watch dreams from around the world. He starts to see familiar dreams, of him, they all end with him being murdered. Driven to madness he seeks to find answers as to who is dreaming of killing him."

What We Need & What You Get

I've been fortunate to meet some amazing crew that will help bring this to life, but we need equipment!

We are currently asking for $5,000. This will cover: Camera (and all accessories needed), lights, insurance, crew pay, actor pay, Grip/Electric, Costumes, Hair/Make-Up, and post production

Some of the money from above will also go to marketing and film festival entry fees after production

As a backer you get your name in the credits and depending on donation level a signed copy of the script! (signed by people cooler than me like the actors)

The Impact

This campaign is funding a lot of crew members. I want to make sure that people aren't working for free. Although I won't be able to pay their full rates (I work with really great folks) I want to make sure they are paid for the work they do!

A lot of my friends didn't work at all for most of 2020. It's not a lot, but it'll help make back some of what they lost!

Risks & Challenges

As with any movie there is so much to be done. Finding locations that will allow us to film, getting sets built, proper costumes and props. There's a reason credits are so long. It takes a lot of people to make a good movie.
