**ALL SUPPORTERS WILL RECEIVE A SPECIAL MENTION AT THE END OF THE FILM**
Hi, I’m Joseph and I’m raising funds to create a film for my final project at The University of Salford.
Something Stupid is a thrilling romance/crime drama centred around two young adults, Ryan and Lily. Ryan and Lily are a young couple from Manchester who have been on several dates with one another and feel passionate about their relationships towards each other, they are planning for the future. This however is threatened when Lily makes a shocking discovery and finds a gun in Ryan’s flat. Ryan confesses to Lily that he has been involved in drug trafficking since he was indoctrinated as a child through county line drug work. He admits to Lily that although he wants to escape, he cannot as his life would be at risk. Lily feels uncomfortable and scared by Ryan’s secret life and urges Ryan to find a way out. Ryan must now approach the daunting possibility of putting his life at risk leaving a massive drug organisation that he has been a part of for the majority of his life, or risk losing the one chance of happiness he’s ever felt with Lily. Ryan struggles with various moral questions facing him as this film explores the lifelong effects that county line drug work has on young adults and the effects it has on their personal relationships.
I am a 22-year-old filmmaker, based in Salford. I have worked on various projects and directed a multitude of different types of film, including comedy, drama and coming of age stories. I have also produced various projects not limited to films, my personal experience crosses into a variety of different types of media including live TV production, audio drama and serialised drama series. I have also worked on and witnessed the process of creating professional television, including work I have done for the BBC’s Waterloo Road.
I am aiming for a modest budget of £250. This will include securing lifelike locations for the film, ensuring that I have realistic looking props, paying expenses for cast and crew to work on the film and an extra amount has been factored into the budget to get Something Stupid to film festivals. This will highlight the work of the talented cast and crew to the outer film world.
