Someone Stole Danny's Equipment

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

My boyfriend Danny Dunlop  is an award-winning Canadian director of photography, director, cinematographer, etc who has worked on music videos, commercial shoots, viral videos, short films, and feature films.

On Thursday, March 22nd, Danny and crew were on-set downtown Toronto (Spadina and D’Arcy) filming a music video for a Canadian indie band. Between 8PM and 9PM, the windows of the filming vehicle were smashed and $10,000+ worth of contents were stolen.

The items stolen include:

-
3 black Pelican cases
- Zeiss 21mm 2.8 Nikon mount lens w. custom printed gear belt
- Zeiss 50mm 1.4 Nikon mount lens w. custom printed gear belt
Zeiss 70-210 Nikon mount lens
- 7x Tiffen 4x4 filters
- Red One PL Mount
- Red 7" articulated arm
- DJI Ronin case
- 3x Red Bricks and charger
- 3x RedMag ssd media cards
- SmallHD monitor
 and unfortunately, more.

The items stolen were Danny’s treasures and have helped him build his amazing portfolio of work.

These items have taken nearly a decade for Danny to track down, and he has spent hours customizing them and seeking out suppliers for the perfect pieces.

Granted, he is an amazing filmmaker with or without these items. This equipment is integral to his career in and passion for film, and he is one of the best in the business.

We estimate that ~$10,000+ of equipment were stolen.  I am asking for help to set Danny up with replacement equipment as he has projects coming up; however, we are working tirelessly to get his original equipment back.

We are also asking everyone to keep an eye out on Kijiji, Craigslist, eBay, Amazon, Facebook groups, and pawn shops for these pieces of equipment. I am more than happy to send out the full equipment list to anyone who can keep an eye out.

His dedication and passion constantly astounds me, and there are so many people, myself included, who want to see this wonderful, talented human being succeed.

Update: First off, thank you so much to everyone who has shared, donated, liked, commented, and encouraged us during this difficult time.

We are currently working with the Toronto Police Department as part of an ongoing investigation. We are also in contact with insurance to determine what, if anything, is covered. If insurance comes through or the police are able to return Danny's equipment (our ideal outcome!), we will ensure everyone who has kindly donated will be refunded.

Update (April 4th, 2018):

As of late last night, I have recovered the majority of my stolen equipment. After 12 crazy days of (futile) police reports, (equally futile) phone calls with insurance, and hundreds of hours of (successful) detective work (by us) we managed to track it down with only a couple easily-replaceable pieces missing. I can’t get into too many details as there is still an ongoing police investigation, but I just wanted to thank everyone for their help through both the GoFundMe and messages of support.

To everyone who gave to our GoFundMe, we will be refunding you as soon as we figure out how. Thank you again for your help!
