My son Alex needs your HELP to fight cancer

I’m starting this funding page to help my middle son Alex and his wife Carla through a very difficult and stressful time in their lives. My son got a shock diagnosis of an unusual and aggressive cancer (adenocarcinoma) in the last two weeks shortly after successfully passing his veterinary specialist examinations in Avian Medicine and Surgery.

Alex studied Veterinary Science at the James Cook University in Townsville, which he graduated from in 2013. He was working as a post graduate student at the University of Queensland and finishing his doctorate when he received the news. Alex has dedicated his life to helping animals and their human families. In the process he has sacrificed a lot so that he could attain the skill and knowledge required to provide the best care for all his patients. He has always had a particular interest in anything relating to birds, reptiles, small mammals, and our Australian native wildlife.

Alex and his wife Carla, have a small family consisting of two parrots (Wattle and Alex) and were in the process of moving to the Sunshine coast before receiving the shocking and life changing news. He has started his first cycle of chemotherapy this week and is very strong and positive. He never thought he would be in a situation to ask for help like this and took a lot of convincing before I was able to post this.

Any funding will go directly to supplementing treatment (Including diagnostics and treatments not covered on PBS or insurance), living and care expenses (while he and his wife are unable to work). At this stage due to the unusual presentation and rare nature of the cancer he is not eligible for any clinical trials/studies and thus the latest treatments are not subsidised by the Australian government and will cost in the thousands of dollars per month if they are required.

Any amount of donation would be accepted with great gratitude. Alex is confident that he will get through this and wants to get back to providing treatment and care of sick animals as soon as possible.
