UAE Refuses to Treat Somali Grandmother with Stage 4 Cancer and said Pay or Die
My 75 yr old grandmother (of eleven grandchildren), and mother of eleven kids has been diagnosed with Stage Four Ovarian Cancer at the beginning of Nov 2020. So far, she already had surgery to remove the uterus completely however that isn’t going to stop the spread of cancer because it has reached her stomach and is stretching towards her other vital organs. Approximately $5K has already left the pockets of our family and counting which is extremely difficult to do already during this time with the ongoing pandemic. We simply can not afford her chemotherapy and radiation moving forward which is what the $32K comprises of.
Let it be known that the UAE has refused to treat her until we front the $32K because she is a Somali citizen living in their country. The Emirate’s own recent Muslim ban refuses to give any type of visa or accommodations including healthcare to the countries affected. That means no healthcare, no leaving the country, etc so either pay up or die. We have been attempting to navigate the legalities of mobility and have been begging them so that she can get the help she needs and yet nothing.
That is why we come to you, the Ummah, and all who have the capacity and inclination to help us raise the money so that my grandmother can get the care she needs inshallah. It would not only alleviate the burden of finances but also the weight of worry of whether we are doing all we can so that the matriarch, the foundation of our family, is taken care of to the capacity she deserves. If she doesn’t get the chemo in time, the worst-case scenario might actually become true.
The quicker we can raise the money, only then can she get the chemo. And inshallah after the pandemic concludes, the goal is to cut all ties with the UAE and never be witness and subject to their crimes against humanity ever again.
