Solo Memorial Cycle for Michelle & Josh

Most of the time we all live in our own little bubbles, everything is perfect and we don't truly realize it. Health is a crown worn only by those who are well and seen only by those who are sick. This is so true.

Six months ago i lost my beautiful wife Michelle to cancer. I lost the love of my life and my two boys lost an amazing mommy. A year ago i lost my nephew Josh. Baby Josh was born sleeping just one day before his due date.

I want to remember Michelle and baby Josh with a solo memorial cycle from the very top to the very bottom of Ireland, Malin head to Mizen head. Its approximately 600 km in total. My plan is to do it in 4 days (provided my arse holds up!), so approx 150 km a day, meaning at least 6 hours cycling each day and burning 6,000 calories a day. By the way i am not a cyclist!

I would like to raise funds for 3 great causes. Firstly the Galway Hospice who provide palliative care to the Galway community. The palliative care teams consist of the most amazing people that facilitate your loved ones spending their last few days at home, in their own homes where they belong, not stuck in some hospital. Secondly to the Feileacain charity that assist in letting go of those little human beings that don't get to come into the world as intended and instead are taken from us prematurely. Lastly i want to raise funds for leukaemia research to continue the fight against this terrible disease.

There are so many kind , amazing people in the world doing some of the most difficult jobs and its only when the shit hits the fan in your own world that you become aware of and need the help of such people. Raising these funds will mean these people and services will continue to be there for others.

Throughout Michelle's illness i had a lot of people asking me, "what can i do?",  "is there anything i can do to help?". I'm not great at asking for help but i'm asking you all for your help now. Please help me to raise funds in Michelle and Josh's memory.  

I will be responsible for withdrawing and distributing the funds to the charities and will post relevant details and confirmation of funds received from each of the charities once completed.
