Soliz Family -2 Year Old Elijah's Recovery

This go fund me is for my sister Gabby and her family. It will help cover medical costs, travel, food and lodging during Elijah’s treatment and hospital stay.

On Saturday January 20th my brother in law, Josh Soliz, brought my 2 year old nephew Elijah to the ER and they discovered that his appendix had ruptured and it had caused a large abscess to form in his abdomen. Elijah was transferred to Sutter Children’s Hospital to undergo emergency surgery. 

Unfortunately they had to stop the surgery because the abscess was too large and his abdominal organs were too inflamed. Doctors suspect the appendix had been ruptured for 7-10 days, which was around the time Elijah was first taken to the hospital and sent home misdiagnosed.

With the length of time that has passed, Elijah’s hospital stay will be much longer. The surgeon is expecting to have him on IV antibiotics for at least two weeks before hopefully sending him home on oral antibiotics. In 6-8 weeks, when the inflammation in Elijah’s abdominal cavity has gone down, they are expecting to surgically remove the abscess and ruptured appendix. It is possible that Elijah will have to stay in the hospital for the entire 6-8 weeks but we are hoping otherwise.

Also, as many of you may know, my sister Gabby and her husband just welcomed their third child into the world on January 8th. They also live in Grassvalley, not Sacramento, so there is a long commute back and forth to the hospital. This means Gabby has to stay home with their newborn and Josh will remain at Elijah’s bedside for as long as his hospitalization lasts.
