SOLIDARITY WITH FB NAIL TECHS

Nail techs from Fingerbang salon in Portland, Oregon are speaking out against unfair working + wage conditions. With the COVID-19 outbreak, these unfair conditions have come into full light and are unacceptable for the future.

As of 3/20/2020, Finger Bang has told their employees that they are unable to pay them for services commissioned before the COVID-19 closure of the business. The business issued the need for temporary unemployment to all employees. With the closure of the salon, employees expected their full pay from the last pay period worked. Employees did not receive their commissioned or hourly based wages, tips, PTO, or sick pay. Specifically, management told employees that their tips went towards paying taxes and bills for the business, which goes against federal and state laws.

Finger Bang has created a separate Gofundme to provide payment to its employees in the time of closure during the COVID-19 pandemic. This fund is suggested to keep the business supported and its employees. Unfortunately, management verbally told employees that the Go Fund Me was created to repay the missing tips and wages previously entitled to employees. By doing this, Finger Bang is trying to crowdsource money that they should have been using to pay their workers. THIS IS A CALL TO FORWARD ALL DONATIONS TO EMPLOYEES DIRECTLY, AS IT IS UNSURE THAT THIS MONEY WILL ACTUALLY GO TO WORKERS.

In addition to the current frustrations with Finger Bang's inability to pay employees, there have been past issues with bounced paychecks, verbal abuse, unpaid overtime, questionable physical boundaries, and manipulation of information. These conditions are unacceptable.

PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR NAIL TECHS DIRECTLY! This is a hard time for everyone, but especially in the situation where unethical business practices have been pulling Finger Bang nail techs down. Finger Bang has put on an accepting and community building front for too long, and it is now time for these artists to actually get paid the money they deserve.
