Solar Power for Wrench Detroit

Wrench Detroit supplies bicycles to inner city children that otherwise would not have one. We operate completely on donation of bikes, tools, parts, money and labor. We are setting out to prove that it is possible to come together with what we already have to see that every child has the freedom to ride their own bike.
Wrench travels to Detroit neighborhoods in need; holding bike repair and giveaway events in cooperation with block clubs, community centers, and church groups. Since our inception in April 2014, we have provided over 500 bicycles and repaired countless more.
Wrench Detroit gets free use of a small shop that was purchased by a family we give bikes to for next to nothing. The property tax is only $120 per year; and by remaining off the grid, we also avoid utility bills. By having no shop overhead, Wrench can get to self sustainability. So we ask you to help us get there, with solar power! By recycling a used system, we can save money and have ample power for our needs.

A solar power system like this one would supply lights throughout the shop (which is currently only illuminated by a single skylight). It would also provide an energy source for charging batteries for tools we use each day, powering a space heater for the coming winter months, and illuminating outside lights after dark.
