Our Story For more than 60 years, the World Outreach Campus Church (formally known as Greater Coleman Temple) has served the families and community of Saginaw, Michigan. The church prides itself on being a community of believers with something for everyone. The mission of the World Outreach Campus is to lead others to Love God, Love His People, and Love His Work. The Church is proud to offer a vibrant multi-generational ministry with the mission of improving lives spiritually, personally, and economically.
Recognizing that the health and well-being of all people is deeply rooted in the health of our environment, the Church has committed to protecting God’s creation by reducing fossil fuel dependence and going solar. In July 2019, the World Outreach Campus Church is partnering with the NAACP Saginaw Branch to install a rooftop solar project that will meet [a percentage] of the church’s energy needs with clean, plentiful sunshine. In addition to reducing harmful pollution, the Church will be able to use the utility bill savings from this new solar project to continue initiatives that have fostered community values while assisting those in need.
The World Outreach Campus has traditionally been a first responder to the emergency needs of the Saginaw community. Their Feeding the Multitude Thanksgiving food giveaway and monthly clothing drives are just two recurring examples of how vital the church is to Saginaw. In the past, the church operated a childhood lead poisoning outreach and education program. Their Family Day for Parents of Murdered Children serves as a reminder that the church plays an important role in keeping the community together in times of crisis and beyond.
The solar project is only the first step in the Church’s vision for a brighter future. The cost savings and the momentum will assist the Church as they plan new, impactful projects to better reach the Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed (ALICE) population. For example, the Church serves a food insecure community with vulnerable populations, and they expect to expand their food pantry operations to address food insecurity in Saginaw. Additionally, they hope to implement new senior citizen assistance programs that will target that population’s specific needs. The solar project, these programs, and others are part of the Church’s steps to advance its mission today and for generations to come.
Make a generous gift today to help World Outreach Campus church go solar and serve as a model of hope, resilience and environmental justice leadership in the Saginaw community. Donations at any level will help us make progress toward our goal and are appreciated.
The change that are all looking for is now in our hands. Let's change the world - one life at a time.
