Do you remember little Sol Gutierrez, because she certainly remembers St. Pius X students with great affection?
Sol is the little girl from Ecuador who visited St. Pius X in 2004 on her way to the first of what would become nine back and two leg surgeries to correct her severe, life-threatening scoliosis. She is the little girl for whom St. Pius X students raised over $12,500 to help pay for that first surgery, truly a loving gift. Without your generosity, she would not have grown up to be the vibrant, intelligent, talented girl she is, whose greatest dream is to attend her beloved “San Pio” as a student -- and to become once again a part of the Pius family.
IN JANUARY 2019, THAT DREAM WILL COME TRUE!
Sol has been admitted to attend St. Pius X as a Senior for the Spring 2019 semester, at the request of former Pius teacher Lynne Franchini Peckinpaugh. Sol will attend regular classes and be involved in student activities like music and choir (she has a beautiful voice). While Sol is here, St. Pius X Alumni will have several opportunities to visit with her.
Just as St. Pius X students did when Sol was a little girl, you can show her your love by helping to fund Sol’s travel to and from Albuquerque, school uniforms, school trips, health insurance, electric mobility scooter and other things she will need while here. These expenses are well beyond what her wonderful family can afford. We will make sure that Sol and her family know the names of every person who helps to pay for this amazing opportunity for her.
