The Sofia Silva Scholarship Fund

Sofia Silva was a fun loving typical 16 year old girl who was active in sports and her church. On September 9, 1996, she was abducted from the front yard of her home in Spotsylvania, VA. Her body was found six weeks later on October 14.
To keep her memory and spirit alive, her family established the Sofia Silva Scholarship Fund managed by The Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region. It is awarded annually to a graduating senior from area schools who embodies her same fun loving Christian spirit.
The scholarship was the passion of her mother who passed away two years ago. As Sofia's sister, I have taken on that same passion. Currently there are no regular donations going into the fund. It funds itself.
