Dry Socks and PB&J Sandwitch Drive

Tax deductible
I think, most of my life, I have been afraid of homeless people. Its their desperation that scared me; a sad mixture of confusion, helplessness and regret. Then my life changed and I learned what that desperation feels like...

It was the summer of 2013 , the apartment I was renting was sold to developers.  I was forced to leave with nowhere to go.  I wasn't prepared to move.  Like many people who face homelessness for the first time, I felt like I deserved to be exiled; to be alone; to be ignored.  The loathing and self-hate was overwhelming.

I have not forgotten those days. It took me almost five years to stabilize my life again. Today, when I see someone who lives on the streets, I feel a sense of responsibility towards her.  I know the urgency of her situation.

During the Covid related lockdowns, I worked as an essential worker,  stocking store shelves. Everyday I saw more and more homeless people, exposed and vulnerable, living on sidewalks and park encampments.

I felt compelded to do something. So, I began organizing via zoom meetings with many different activist groups and grass-roots organizations. I needed to impact this problem in my neighborhood. Finally,  when the vaccine became available,  Alicia Fetters and I began making sandwiches to give to the people who never make it to soup kitchens or any services. We bring food to the people who live under bridges.  We also provide socks because we  recognized the need people who live outside have for clean socks.

I soon met the creator and founder of Collins-Ashworth Foundation, Ron Collins. We share a similar vision of community outreach programs designed to help impact the homeless. We are also aware of the eviction crisis many people are facing in the coming months and the ensuing surge of homelessness. CAF has been a great source of support for Socks and Sandwitches.

I am asking you to help us. If everyone who reads this page donates the cost of a single pair of socks or the cost of lunch, we will be able to continue our work. is going to be a tough year for many people. Anything helps tremendously! Thank you for your support. Please follow Collins-Ashworth Foundation on Facebook and at CAFoundation.net

Our mission at the Collins-Ashworth Foundation is to help the homeless, low income and needy in Washington State.  We are a small non-profit/charity which was founded in 2018.  The volunteers at CAF are fundraising for a new campaign named “DRY SOCKS and PB&J SANWICHES.”  The campaign is designed to bring attention to the houselessness issues we have in the United States and specifically in the Beautiful State of Washington.  We encourage your monthly donation to continue our efforts to help.

A little about ‘SOCKS ‘N SANDWICHES.”  With your donations, CAF purchases supplies (socks n PBJ and other supplies) and distributes to local folks in need of some warmth and food.  Through Churches, IRC 501c3 and organized activist’s groups, CAF coordinates volunteers who package, distribute supplies, and host the  “SOCKS ‘N SANDWICHES” event.

We invite other organizations and suppliers to join our effort and add your organization to our list of sponsors.  Please visit https://cafoundation.net for dates and times near your area.

Disclaimer-  The Collins-Ashworth Foundation sponsors many campaigns.  All funds collected are deposited into the CAF banking account.  CAF strives to use no more than 10% of donations towards administrative costs!
