Sober Sisters Dream Come True

Leah’s Story
My name is Leah and I’m a recovering addict. I started using alcohol and drugs at a young age. I got drunk for the first time at 10, and by 16, I had graduated to harder things. By 18, I was a heroin addict, by 25, I had lost everything multiple times, even almost my life. I was extremely hopeless and facing prison time. I realized, if I wanted my life to change, I needed help. I went to a program and met some wonderful women who helped me believe in myself, and loved me when I couldn’t even love myself. These women were a huge part of my recovery.

After my program, in the beginning stages of my recovery, I had never felt so alone and so misunderstood. I was craving the connection I felt from those women. I tried to find it again through different meetings. Instead I felt judged and somewhat unaccepted. I was tired of feeling alone, so I created a group of my own and called it Sober Sisters.

Sober Sisters
We have created a safe space where we are free to be ourselves, without fear of being judged and without drama. Sober Sisters is a place to be RAW and REAL. I started the group in 2017 with 200 people; since then the group has grown to over 16,000 members. Our members come from all kinds of races, ethnicities, ages, gender identities, sexual orientations, abilities, faiths, and beliefs. We encourage, support, accept, believe, and love each other, without any hidden agenda. Sober Sisters is a community of women in recovery, who support and lean on each other, as we all strive to reach our own full potential. It is women empowering other women, to stand on their own.

I never dreamed Sober Sisters would grow like it has. It’s become such a huge network, so important to so many women. Together, we want to take Sober Sisters from Facebook to real life - and impact the lives of even more women. The opposite of addiction is CONNECTION, and we need more real life connections.

We have a dream of becoming a nonprofit organization so we can host classes, educate each other on how to live our lives without the use of alcohol or drugs, and give each other the tools we need to face the real world, without numbing ourselves and our potential with harmful substances. We have the opportunity to bloom into our best selves. We hope you’ll join us and help us make this dream come true. #SoberSisterStrong

I never thought I'd make it out of my disease and here I am years later helping many. Now, I want to continue to do my part, but even more. Please help make my dreams a reality, let's start helping reach a hand back in, to pull these women out.

All proceeds will go towards getting our business license, 501c3,  website, zoom line, etc.
