Have you ever known someone who is “The Glue?” The person who is the mastermind to the social gatherings that brings everyone together? The person who is the life of the party and loved by all? The person who is compassionate and empathetic to all who cross his path? That person is our Mike Hays.
Recently, Mike was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer with mets to his liver. This diagnosis has brought Mike, his family and his friends to their knees. In the blink of an eye, everything has changed.
You might know that Mike has suffered with Crohn’s disease since he was 19 years old. Thankfully he never had any major complications until just recently when excruciating pain sent him to the hospital. Scans revealed a large mass on his cecum and spots on his liver. On May 12th, Mike went to surgery. We all hoped and prayed for the best outcome. However, Mike came out of surgery with an ileostomy (one of his greatest fears) and a diagnosis of cancer. Absolutely devastating news.
Mike will be starting chemo in June with the support of his wife, Kaye, his children, Lauren and Jack, his parents and countless friends. Mike is ready for this fight and we are ready to support him. Mike will go to any extent to protect and help his friends and family when they are in need. Now it is our turn to do the same for him. Together, we will stand in support and fight with Mike.
To help make this fight a little bit more bearable for Mike and his family, we are collecting funds to aid in the financial burden while Mike fights for his life. He will be out of work for treatment for an extended period of time. While none of us can take away the pain, we can do other things. We can keep praying, sending love and offering support. We can help them not have to worry about finances. On top of this soul crushing news, the last thing that this family needs to worry about is finances. If you can donate, please do.
