SNOWBOARDER TRAPPED IN JAPAN!

Please help us! Maxx Waligora has spent the last several years chasing “The Endless Winter”, he has been traveling between the hemispheres to pursue his love of snowboarding (and has been supporting himself throughout his entire efforts). It’s truly amazing that he has been able to have those experiences. Unfortunately for Maxx, fate has had some other hurdles in mind for the young man, and that is why we are reaching out to anyone and everyone!

About 2 weeks ago, Maxx woke up with some vertigo, but went about his business, managing to get by. As time went by he started to lose the feeling in both of his legs and gradual weakness too. Maxx got a pretty bad infection in his spinal cord. The infection was almost all flushed out but has left inflammation. This inflammation means he has what they are calling partial paralysis. Eventually he was unable to walk and wound up in the hospital, in Japan, with only his girlfriend, Billie, to help him. Doctors did many tests and finally found a syrinx (a fluid filled sac) in his spinal cord. Doctors are doing more tests and trying to decide if he needs surgery at this time. The one thing we do know is that he has a long road to recovery ahead of him. It has been a little hard to get answers with the language-barrier and a real roller coaster at first knowing what was wrong. His is a rare case.  However the motto is ‘day by day’ and we will be sure to keep everyone updated, although updates will be difficult as there is no WiFi in the hospital, and Maxx can’t work to keep his SIM card loaded with minutes...

Can you imagine if you were stranded in a hospital dealing with partial paralysis, half a world away from your family, friends and support? That’s the situation Maxx (and his Mother, and Billie) are dealing with, and is the reason we are asking for your help. We are trying to raise $***** to assist us in getting them a rental WiFi hotspot to be able to make WiFi phone calls, travel funds for his mother Kristine to be with him in Japan, as well as paying the remainder of his medical costs while in Japan. Any little bit helps, and I know that Maxx is too humble to ask for this himself, but please, if you can, donate some dollars to help Maxx with this difficult situation and the coming transitions he will be faced with.

Arigatō everyone

With love from his family
