Snoopy's Wishing Well for Helping Paws Adoption Program

Sharing the Love has become the theme for this year’s Scarecrow, by Tamborine
Mountain resident, Kelly Austin.
Helping Paws Adoption Program is run by an amazing Vet, Dr. Belinda Wright. Her
commitment to the welfare of pets, is as large as the Pacific Ocean. As a single Mum,
she worked, to put herself through Vet School, while raising her son. Her struggles
influenced her to make Veterinary Care, as affordable as possible, and her rates are the
best.
Dr. Belinda is about love first and is passionate about caring for puppies born with cleft
palates. These puppies would normally be euthanized, because they are unable to feed.
Breeders, give these puppies to Belinda and she and her team, tube feed them, until
they are old enough for surgery.
Dr. Belinda then fixes the cleft palates, and the puppies are adopted out and go on to
live full and happy lives, with their forever family. Dr. Belinda doesn’t even recoup the
full cost of treating these cleft puppies and this is just one area where donations help.
Kelly has adopted two cats, from Belinda, the first Layla, was rescued by Dr. Belinda,
from a kill shelter, just as Layla was scheduled to be put down. “With all the love and
joy Layla has brought me, I cry when I think of how close I came to not having her, says
Kelly. Many cats and kittens aren’t so lucky!
The Cat and Kitten Adoption had to be scaled back, due to a lack of foster carers
however, Helping Paws is keen to expand it again, as they get their cats and kittens, like
Layla; from kill shelters. None of Helping Paws rescues are ever euthanized, unless the
pet has a medical issue which can’t be cured.
If you’d like to be a Helping Paws foster carer, either for dogs or cats, please contact Dr
B’s Vet Clinic, for more information. The Helping Paws Program also covers all the
necessary medical care and adoption preparation, like desexing, microchipping,
worming and flea treatment, for all pets being put up for adoption.
