SERVICE DOGS ARE NOT AVAILABLE IN CANADA FOR CYSTIC FIBROSIS
Having Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and CF related diabetes continues to bring many challenges. Throughout this adventure, there have been many ups and downs. We have come to the conclusion that a diabetic alert dog would greatly help me keep my health under control, give me greater independence and more confidence to pursue my lifelong dreams.
As service dogs are not available for my needs in Canada , We have decided to take my future puppy's training into our own hands. However, this specialized training comes at a cost. It can take over 2 years for the dog to complete his training.
This dog would greatly help me keep my blood sugars under control which , in turn, will reduce my lung infections and the irreversible damage. Bacteria loves feasting on sugar.
My second wish is to keep raising awareness for Cystic Fibrosis and give us the tools we need to keep fighting our lifelong battle.
