Sneakers for Senators

Supportive footwear for #nastywoman Senators.

Our goal is to raise $1,000.

Do you remember when Texas State Senator Wendy Davis filibustered all night to protect women’s health? It was kick ass, wasn’t it, when she stood all night wearing her sneakers?

Senators need good arch support.

There will be 16 democratic female senators in our upcoming Congress. Women’s health, equal voting rights, LGBTQ rights, immigrant rights, reproductive rights, public healthcare, upholidng The First Amendment, The Fourth Amendment, The Fifth Amendment, The Immigration and Nationality Act, The Convention Against Torture, The Refugee Convention, The Privacy Act, The Eighth Amendment, and many are at risk in this new government. That’s a lot to defend. We have to gird their feet for the long hours ahead.

Starting in January, an avalanche of repeals and restrictions will start rolling through Congress. We’re looking to our female senators to continue the work of #nastywomen everywhere. Let’s buy these women a pair of quality pair of sneakers and let them know that their citizens and constituents are looking to them to protect their rights!

Defend Roe V. Wade! (We kinda can’t believe we STILL HAVE TO DEFEND IT but okay. 100%) Defend Obamacare! Defend the Voting Rights Act! Defend marriage equality! No wall! No ban on Muslims! And if Guiliani brings that Stop and Frisk shit to the floor, kick it right back out!

Each pair of sneakers will cost less than $50 (the legal limit of value on gifts for senators). We’ve got our eye on ASICS walking shoes, well known for their cushy insoles and variety of kicky, bright colors. Hey baby! That plantar fasciitis ain’t no thang. Filibuster all night!

All excess funds will be split between Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, and the Southern Poverty Law Center with receipt confirmation of our donations. However, if any Republican female senators pledge to support and protect women’s health and protect Roe V. Wade, we will gladly donate shoes to them too! (Looking at you, Lisa, Joni, Susan, Deb, and Shelley!)

Push Goals:
46 x 50 $2300: If we raise more than $1,000, we will need to raise an additional $2,300 to a total of $3,300 to give to every Democratic female in the House of Representatives.
