Gavin's Gift of Life

Donation protected
Precious Gavin had a rough start to his young life.  He was found outdoors with two siblings by a nice family who wanted to care for him, but when they realized he was unable to eat on his own, they reached out to Snap2It for help.  While Kyla, Snap2It's founder, worked with her veterinarians to figure out what was going on with Gavin's mouth, his foster syringe fed him for the first four weeks since he could not fully open his mouth.

Gavin's injury was so complex, he needed to be taken to one of the best specialty vets for a CAT scan, to the tune of $800.  It was there we learned the heartbreaking news that sweet Gavin, who loves people so very much, was either kicked or stepped on when he was a young kitten.  As a result, his jaw is completely deformed and his bottom teeth hit the roof of his mouth when he eats, necessitating a mostly liquid diet.  The older he gets, the more his overbite grows and eventually he would be unable to open his mouth at all.

Gavin is undergoing surgery today to repair his jaw, and his injuries are so severe that will need to have a tracheotomy to insert the breathing tube while he is under anesthesia.  This is a very expensive surgery right in the middle of another crazy kitten season.  Luckily the veterinary clinic is willing to let the rescue pay the bill over time, but they don't know where the money will come from.

Despite the suspected abuse, Gavin is loving, cuddly, outgoing and loves everyone he meets. He is a very well socialized kitten, loves other cats and wants every cat he meets to be his friend. Gavin had a rough start to life: even at his young age he has had 2 URIs, worms, cat lice, nose bleeds, a virus, and the terrible jaw injury, but he still always purrs and seems very content. The need for him to be syringe fed has created a close bond between Gavin and his caretakers. That someone intentionally harmed him has not made him afraid or distrustful of people.  He absolutely loves his foster family.

Gavin should have died when his head was crushed, but he fought to eat to stay alive. Snap2It couldn't help but take him in, care for him, and get him the surgery he needs so he has a chance at the life he fought so hard for, and deserves so much.  Everyone in the Snap2It family greatly appreciates any and all help you can give us in our efforts to give this adorable little boy the best life possible.
