Smithridge STEM Academy is a K-5 Title I school in Reno, NV. The school emphasizes the integration of science, technology, engineering, art, and math.
This project was developed to inspire students from all backgrounds to develop a love of science. Through a school wide writing contest students are submitting essays explaining why their STEM hero deserves to be depicted in a mural on our school wall. We are asking for your help in funding a mural that depicts five diverse individuals that have made important contributions to the sciences that students will be able to admire for years to come. Our goal is for students to increase their awareness of lesser known scientists who are representative of our school community.
The funds for this project will fund the materials for the murals and the costs to hire a local artist. We are in the process of hiring an artist who will involve the students in the process of creating the artwork. We appreciate any amount of support you can provide for our project, thank you!
